Röhlig Logistics conquers the digital logistics market – strategic alliance with technology partner and spin-off of a subsidiary for software development

Bremen, 06 May 2021 - Owner-managed logistics company Röhlig Logistics has been driving digital initiatives such as digital pricing and quoting, cloud strategy, cyber and data security and others as part of its global strategy programme "Blue Star". Philip W. Herwig, Managing Partner of Röhlig Logistics, explains: "We see the digitalisation of logistics as an opportunity for our business model. We complement our transport solutions for air freight, sea freight and contract logistics with digital products and services to create digital added value for our customers." Röhlig Logistics focuses on three keys areas: digital customer service including quoting, booking, track & trace, furthermore supply chain visibility and customer-specific reporting & analytics for supply chain optimisation.

Philip W. Herwig adds: "We already have a powerful IT organisation with more than 100 employees, which we are strengthening to accelerate our digital initiatives. In doing so, we think creatively and are open to long-term co-operations in order to secure the best talent." Therefore, Röhlig Logistics has now entered into a strategic partnership with q.beyond AG, an IT service provider for innovative digital end-to-end solutions, for the implementation of the Röhlig digital strategy.

In the course of this partnership, Conrad Franchi, who has been leading the strategy development for Röhlig Logistics since 2016, was also appointed Chief Digital Officer. Conrad Franchi emphasises: "In q.beyond, we have found an ideal partner to accompany the implementation of our digital strategy in order to fully automate our processes on the one hand, and to create digital solutions for our customers on the other."

Philip W. Herwig adds: "Over the next five years, we will make significant investments into the digitalisation of our business model." As part of the strategic partnership with q.beyond, Röhlig Logistics will expand its central transport management and finance systems, significantly modernise its system platform for contract logistics, and break new ground in data analytics. In addition, q.beyond and its subsidiary Incloud, a software engineering specialist, will support the further development of the visibility products "Röhlig REALTIME" and "My Röhlig" as platform-based cloud applications in the logistics industry.

Conrad Franchi: “We were able to register 30 percent more users for REALTIME last year and win new customers via "My Röhlig"." Based on this success, Röhlig will set up its own subsidiary as a digital lab before the end of June 2021, which will bundle digital product development (software). The company is already in the start-up phase, more information will follow.
