Ocean carriers may, at their sole discretion and at short notice, reroute vessels operating between Asia and Europe from the Cape of Good Hope to the Suez Canal and the Red Sea. Such routing decisions are made exclusively by the respective carrier and are beyond our control as freight forwarder.
Current situation in the Suez Canal in September 2026
This does not represent a general reopening of the Red Sea and Suez Canal route. The security situation remains fluid, and carrier routing decisions continue to depend on ongoing risk assessments. Services may therefore be changed, suspended, rerouted or delayed at short notice, including after booking or departure.
What this means for your shipments
Customers should be aware that the planned routing at the time of booking may change, and cargo may subsequently be routed through the Red Sea, the Suez Canal or other impacted areas. Röhlig shall therefore not be liable for any loss, damage, delay, additional cost or other consequence arising from or in connection with such rerouting, including exposure to war, terrorism, piracy or other security-related risks. Customers are strongly advised to review their existing cargo insurance and consider purchasing the additional war-risk cover before shipment. Such cover is subject to the insurer’s terms, exclusions, limits, territorial scope and confirmation of acceptance. Delays, port omissions, rerouting, additional surcharges and other costs may arise in accordance with the applicable carrier conditions and contractual terms.
