Strong growth at Röhlig

Best quarter in company history

Bremen. Hans Ludger Körner, Chief Financial Officer at Röhlig & Co., was delighted on the occasion of the presentation of the third quarter figures 2010. Röhlig is on a direct course to reach the level of 2008 again by the end of this year.

„Due to the dynamic growth of sea freight and air freight business within the first three quarters of the year, Röhlig achieved a record result in the third quarter 2010. Thus, the gross profit in the third quarter is by 39.2 percent over the comparable period last year”, says Hans-Ludger Körner.

Röhlig’s strategy of long-term growth showed its desired effects in the first three quarters of this year: Group sales by the end of the third quarter rose year on year by 45.7 percent.

"The major efforts on the cost side, which had to be taken by the financial and economic crisis in the past year, now contribute extensively. Our goal, that gross profit and EBIT are reaching their level of 2008 again by the end of this year is, therefore, within reach”, says Körner.

“Our EBIT per 30th September 2010 is 8.93 Mio. Euro, whereof 5.3 Mio. Euro were generated in the third quarter. The global trade has grown significantly in the last two quarters, whereof the sea freight and air freight business participates disproportionately. The transport volumes on all major routes and in the air are steadily rising again since February.”

"Particularly pleasing was the business development in the southern hemisphere. In Australia and South Africa, gross profit increased year on year by over 37 per cent respectively, both companies doubled their earnings. Our South African company Röhlig-Grindrod reached the highest result of all subsidiaries. The strategy to focus not only on the high-volume east-west traffic, is paying off now”, explains Körner. For the final quarter, he expects further growth, with a slightly slowing pace.

Röhlig is a trans-continental logistics companies with headquarters in Bremen. With offices in Europe, Africa, North and South America and the Asia / Pacific region, the Röhlig network spans 29 countries.
