Help amid the baby formula crisis: Röhlig Charters fly 700 tonnes of formula to the USA

Röhlig Logistics transported approximately 700 tonnes of infant formula from Singapore to Chicago. Amid the ongoing infant formula supply shortage in the US, our customer Reckitt committed to importing large amounts of urgently needed formula base powder  from its Singapore facility, following approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Employees of Röhlig’s Europe-based holding company, as well as colleagues in Singapore and the USA demonstrated outstanding teamwork to ensure the smooth transport of the precious cargo.

As long-standing business partners, Röhlig and Reckitt have had years of successful cooperation, and so Reckitt called on our expertise and reliability for the logistical handling of this time-critical project. 

Over the course of four weeks, Röhlig shipped around 1,340 pallets of baby formula to the US. Handling the palletising and delivery of the cargo, the Röhlig teams in Singapore and the US were always on hand to make sure that everything ran smoothly.

Even before the goods arrived at the departure airport, a customised logistics solution was needed due to the Singapore climate.  Our logistics experts are experienced in working with high temperatures and humidity and opted for temperature-controlled reefer trucks to ensure undamaged transportation.

Upon their arrival at Singapore airport, the goods were loaded onto the waiting charter planes and sent on their way to Chicago. Transport by cargo aircraft was the method of choice, as the voluminous pallets were too high to fit into the cargo hold of conventional passenger jets. At the destination airport, the palletised infant formula was quickly transported to the designated warehouse in the reefer trucks that were waiting.
