Beside multiple countries having closed their national borders and shutting down public life, the European Union has decided to ban non-EU travelers. This will cause additional challenges for air traffic to and from Europe. In addition, intensified controls at several European borders cause delays in both air freight and land transport.
Travel restrictions upon Europe, recently imposed by the United States, are influencing capacities in air cargo.
The ongoing spread of the Coronavirus in Canada and Mexico is leading to travel restrictions and therefore limited available capacity in the market.
Countries such as Argentina and Bolivia have closed their borders.
Australia and New Zealand have closed their borders to non-residents: Due to many cancelled flights Airfreight space is limited. New Zealand has effectively put the country into lockdown.
In China, the situation continues to stabilize and business is slowly returning to normal. But China export trade starts to feel some impact due to supply chain disruption and the closure of business and manufacturing overseas. Furthermore you find relevant information regarding the APAC countries on our Röhlig WeChat account in both Chinese and English on a daily basis. The page is accessible on any browser.

Equipment & Services
Due to the current situation, the pressure on resources is increasing and is causing a growing lack of equipment. As carriers still see a decline in demand for shipments from China, they continue to announce blank sailings. Therefore, there may be difficulties in the performance of transportation.
Preventive health measures
The safety and health of our customers and employees remains our greatest concern. We have activated preventive measures, like working from home and quarantine for safety reasons where mandated.
Our contingency plan ensures the continuation of our services to our customers and the protection of the health of our employees.
Due to these measures, we are able to attend to all correspondence during this difficult times and provide the needed service to customers.
Due to the current situation and the resulting health and safety measures as well as additional regulations, there may be delays in transportation.
We recommend to ask shippers to check the availability and readiness of their customers to receive shipments during business hours, before handing shipments over to us. Shipments which cannot be delivered due to absent consignees will be returned to shippers at their cost. In case shippers are not able to receive these returned shipments, storage cost will apply. In case of pick-up orders customers also need to ensure readiness of their pick-up addresses. If this is not given, cost of the pick-up attempts will be charged.
Furthermore, a severe congestion of ports, due to the slow collection of incoming containers, means that many import containers are still not accepted or shipped. This network disruption is delaying the repositioning of equipment in key regions around the world and is causing container shortages in several parts of the world and cancellations of backhaul sailings.
The resulting capacity constraints and wide-ranging measures taken by governments may, under certain circumstances, mean that the rates we offered or set in the tendering process cannot be met or are no longer valid.
As the situation is rapidly changing, unforeseeable effects cannot be precluded, this includes, but is not limited to, potentially exceeding deadlines within the scope of our contractual performance.
