AIRFREIGHT

AIRFREIGHT

From/To Germany – Frankfurt Airport Cargo Handling Agents are currently experiencing significant challenges with receiving and dispatching of all airfreight shipments. As such there are significant delays in both collecting and dropping off cargo – often up to 8-10 hours. We therefore recommend advising your suppliers/customers to such delays. For exports ex Germany it is advisable to recommend  to your suppliers to deliver as early as is possible to Frankfurt Airport so as to ensure your shipments are not delayed.

Emirates Airline Fuel Surcharge Adjustment – effective 29 November 2017 Emirates SkyCargo will be increasing their FSC to EURO 0.21 cent per Kilo. Please note that this charge is based on the chargeable weight. For any further questions and or clarifications please contact your Rohlig representative.

Airline Capacity – in general there is still high demand for the current capacity. It is recommended that early bookings are made over the coming weeks to ensure your shipments are delivered on time during the lead up to the Christmas & New Year period.

North Asia – New Zealand – The market has experienced significant increase in demand vs 2016.Q4 is expected to be tight until at least the second half of December 2017.Expectation for 2018 is that the N. Asia market is expected to be even tighter with no increase in capacity and an increase in demand.

South East Asia – New Zealand – The market is facing the tightest space situation in the past decade following YOY increase in demand compounded by capacity cuts for the second half 2017. Carriers are reporting highest rate levels since the Global Financial Crisis. The forecast for December/January 2018 is expected that vessels will remain full throughout the festive holiday season before easing over the Chinese New Year holidays which are scheduled for 1st week of February 2018. We are seeing congestion in the major SE Asia transhipment hub’s with Singapore the worst hit.SE Asia capacity is also expected to be tight in 2018 where there is an expectation that market rates will continue to be higher than recent years.

Europe – New Zealand – The market is relatively stable where vessels are at healthy utilisation levels. Considering the congestion issues at SE Asian Hub’s we recommend using direct services for urgent/time sensitive bookings. For such bookings we recommend placing bookings early.

North America – New Zealand – as with Europe the market is relatively stable however we still recommend to book shipments early to ensure your delivery expectations are achieved.
