Infrastructure surcharge hike for Patrick terminals

Infrastructure surcharge hike for Patrick terminals

Patrick Terminal has introduced an infrastructure surcharge at its Port Botany and Fremantle terminals.

The company has also announced a hike in existing surcharges at Fisherman Island in Brisbane and East Swanson Dock in Melbourne.

The new charges take effect from July 10.

The surcharge rates are:

  • Sydney $25.45 per box

  • Fremantle $4.76 per box

  • Fisherman Islands $32.55 per box

  • East Swanson Dock $32 per box

The Patrick surcharges resemble those of competitor DPW Australia, which announced new infrastructure surcharges earlier in the year.

The Rohlig team is assessing these rates to ensure we always give the best value and service to our customers. We will update you of any rate amendments as soon as they are confirmed.

Market Notice: Indications of container shortages in China

Market Notice: Indications of container shortages in China

We are currently receiving market reports surrounding container shortages in some areas of China.

The container shortages follow a number of factors, including:

  • New waterborne paint regulations have come into effect in China on April 1st which has impacted the production time of new containers.
  • Hanjin Shipping’s recent closure has resulted in delays to Hanjin equipment coming back into general circulation.
  • Strong European exports to Asia have increased delays in empty equipment availability in China.
  • A significant decline in new container orders last year has seen a slightly reduced number of new containers in the market

While this situation is effecting the whole industry it is not at a critical stage and we wish only to inform our customers and recommend to make bookings early in order to avoid possible impact to your shipments.

As always, our customer service team are on hand to navigate through any issues and enquiries.
